You definitely lose royalties compared to normal audio sales, since whispersynced titles are usually available as a buck or two add on with the ebook version. ![]() Otherwise, they could easily get out of sync.ġ. That is the reason the Kindle version ned to match the audio exactly. So they can continue that bedtime read during the morning commute or what have you. Whypersync for audio lets the reader/listener switch seamlessly between Kindle and audio versions. Sorry, I'm probably asking all the hard questions today. Oh wait, three questions! Has anyone worked with ACX where you give the narrator a share of your royalties - and does whispersync go against any contracts with them, given they would have to earn less royalties on those sales as well? Has anyone else run into this issue? Did you just add a 'he thought' tag to the kindle version and call it a day? I really didn't want to do that for style reasons. I can already tell that when read aloud that a few of them could be misinterpreted as spoken dialogue, and I obviously wouldn't want that. If I do want to be eligible for whispersync, I do see one issue: I have a few cases of internal monologue in italics. Or are they sales you would have never realized, anyway?Ģ. Do I even WANT to be eligible for whispersync? I can't quite get a feel for if it's a good thing or not - it almost seems like you may lose a lot in royalties in those cases. Two questions come to mind after some light reading on other postings.ġ. ![]() I really don't have a complete handle on what it is - I guess those who pay for it (like a subscription or what?) get to hear the audio along with the text after purchasing the kindle version? So I browsed the boards here - and I'm thinking that reason is Whispersync. I bumped my head a while ago on something which said you should make sure your kindle version lines up EXACTLY with your audio version, but it was for some reason I could not recall. ![]() I'm gearing up to publish my first novel and was planning on releasing it in Audible with ACX. ![]()
